Slow conflict. Deepen understanding. Strengthen connection.
A steady, secure relationship is possible.
You want to stay in this relationship. But you’re exhausted by the cycle. Conversations escalate quickly, or one (or both) of you shuts down. Attempts to talk things through leave you feeling misunderstood, dismissed, or further apart than when you started.
You’re not fighting about just one issue. It’s the pattern itself that feels impossible to interrupt. Even when you promise to “do better,” something pulls you back into the same dynamic.
You remember it felt easier in the beginning. Connection didn’t always require so much effort. Now even small interactions seem to spiral, and the emotional distance is growing.
This isn’t about one disagreement. It’s about a recurring cycle.
You may recognize this pattern:
The same conversation repeats without resolution
One partner withdraws while the other pushes harder
Conflict lingers long after the argument ends
Resentment builds beneath the surface
You begin questioning whether things can really change
You’re not on the brink of divorce, but you know something important feels off.
The distance may be subtle and the tension may be quiet, but the connection doesn’t feel as steady as it once did.
You’re caught in the same argument- again
In a structured, neutral space, we slow interactions down in order to understand what’s happening beneath conflict or misunderstandings. Our work is intentional and structured rather than open-ended venting sessions.
Instead of focusing only on the surface disagreement, we examine the pattern itself: how the conversation begins, how it escalates, and how each of you unintentionally contributes to the cycle. Often, what looks like criticism is a bid for understanding. What looks like withdrawal is overwhelm.
Using research-based tools, we work on strengthening emotional awareness, improving conflict management, and building empathy. You learn how to soften start-ups through listening without defensiveness and repair more effectively by learning to respond to one another other in ways that increase trust instead of eroding it.
As the cycle becomes clearer, conversations become less reactive and more deliberate. Disagreements feel less critical and more collaborative. Over time, you build a steadier foundation that’s rooted in true understanding and mutual respect.
This work isn’t about winning arguments.
It’s about creating a relationship where both of you feel heard, valued, and steady.
You’re in the right place
Couples therapy can interrupt the pattern.
TOGETHER YOU CAN…
Build a solid foundation of trust, respect, fondness
Over time, the stress of life and responsibility can slowly erode the warmth between you. We intentionally strengthen appreciation, emotional responsiveness, and respect so that fondness returns. When trust grows and negative cycles soften, connection begins to feel natural again- not forced.
Feel close - not just coordinated
Many couples function well as teammates but feel disconnected as partners. We work on creating emotional safety so vulnerability feels possible again. Instead of conversations that revolve only around logistics and problem-solving, you begin to experience understanding and genuine closeness.
Recreate shared meaning in your life together
Beyond managing conflict, strong relationships are built on shared purpose. We explore what you’re building together: your values, rituals, goals, and the story of your relationship. As shared meaning becomes clearer, monotony gives way to intention. You begin moving forward not just side by side, but toward something you both care about.
Let’s do this:
Begin rebuilding your connection
If you’re ready to move out of reactive patterns and into something more intentional, this is a good place to begin.
In-person couples therapy is offered in Franklin, Tennessee, and virtual couples therapy throughout California and Tennessee. Whether you prefer meeting face-to-face or online, our work is structured to support steady, ongoing growth.

What to expect from couples therapy
-
Couples therapy with me is structured and collaborative. We focus on understanding your interaction patterns, strengthening communication, and building tools you can use outside the session. Sessions are active and intentional so we don’t simply revisit the same conflict each week…we actually solve problems.

Couples therapy gives you a place to slow things down and actually understand what's happening in your relationship. We'll look at the patterns you get caught in, how you communicate, how conflict escalates, and the underlying needs and emotions that often get missed when you're stuck in an argument.
I use the Gottman Method along with other evidence-based approaches to help couples build better communication, manage conflict, rebuild trust, and create a more connected relationship. Therapy isn't about deciding who is right. It's about understanding the relationship and figuring out what needs to change.

There's no set number of sessions that works for every couple. It depends on what brings you to therapy, how long you've been struggling, and what you're hoping to accomplish.
Some couples come in with a specific issue and need a relatively short course of therapy. Others are dealing with longstanding patterns, infidelity, or significant disconnection and benefit from working together for longer. We'll talk about your goals as we go and make sure therapy continues to be useful rather than keeping you in therapy indefinitely.
However, I believe that you shouldn’t have to be in therapy forever. You’re here to solve problems, feel better, and get to work. It’s my job to keep you on track to meet your goals. -
Not at all. You don't have to wait until your relationship is falling apart to come to couples therapy.
Some couples come in because they're having the same fight over and over. Others feel disconnected, aren't having sex, are struggling with parenting or communication, or simply want to strengthen an already good relationship. Couples therapy can also be a great way to address smaller problems before they become much bigger ones.
-
This is actually pretty common. Ideally, both partners participate because the relationship is the focus of couples therapy. But if your partner isn't ready, you can still begin therapy on your own.
Individual therapy can help you understand your own patterns, decide what you want, and figure out how to approach the relationship differently. Sometimes a partner becomes more open to couples therapy once they see that therapy isn't about blaming them or taking sides.
-
Yes. I work with couples who are unsure whether they want to stay together, including couples who are considering separation or divorce.
The goal isn't to convince you to stay together at all costs. Therapy can help you slow down, understand what's happening in the relationship, and make thoughtful decisions about what comes next. If both partners are genuinely considering whether the relationship can be repaired, discernment-oriented work may also be appropriate.

The Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. It focuses on understanding the patterns that affect relationship stability and helping couples develop skills that support friendship, communication, conflict management, trust, and intimacy.
Rather than simply teaching couples how to "communicate better," the work looks at what is actually happening between you. We pay attention to things like conflict patterns, bids for connection, friendship, emotional attunement, and the ways couples respond to each other when they're feeling hurt or disconnected.
-
No. I'm not there to decide who is right or wrong (unless there is abuse going on).
I work with both partners while also being willing to name behaviors and patterns that are getting in the way of the relationship. Being neutral doesn't mean ignoring harmful behavior or pretending both partners have contributed equally to every problem. My job is to understand what's happening, help each person take responsibility for their part, and create a therapy environment where meaningful change can happen.
-
My fee is $275 for a 60-minute session and $400 for a 90-minute session. I also offer longer sessions when additional time would be helpful, particularly when couples are working through more complicated issues.
